Melanie, the founder of Ambilite Candle Co., is a 29-year-old second-year university student who was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum at age seven. Her love for candles began early in life and eventually blossomed into a passion for making her own. Ambilite Candle Co. is her heart project—a way to combine creativity, sensory comfort, and social impact in one glowing flame. Making candles brings her joy, especially when customers share how a scent has sparked a memory or brought peace to their day.
Beyond candles, Melanie is an avid reader, a Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, and a lover of all things creative. Whether she’s crafting something by hand, lost in a fantasy novel, or immersed in music, Melanie finds comfort and inspiration in the world of imagination. Her diverse passions fuel the soul of Ambilite, where every product is made with heart, purpose, and a little bit of magic.
Meet Joshua
Joshua is Melanie’s husband and the behind-the-scenes powerhouse at Ambilite Candle Co. Often found lending a hand at markets or managing the admin side of things, he’s the ultimate jack-of-all-trades—keeping everything running smoothly with a smile (and usually a dad joke). From packing orders to tech support, Joshua is the quiet engine that helps keep the flame alive.
When he’s not helping with the business, you’ll find him enjoying time with Tucker at the park, diving into video games or binge-worthy series, and cracking jokes that lighten the mood. A passionate disability support worker, Joshua is dedicated to empowering young people on the autism spectrum, bringing the same care and heart to his work as he does to Ambilite Candle Co.
Meet Tucker
Tucker is the four-legged heart of Ambilite Candle Co. A lovable Labrador-Border Collie mix, he’s not just a pet—he’s family, emotional support, and the ultimate morale booster all rolled into one fluffy package. With endless love, tail wags, and a knack for making everyone smile, Tucker brings comfort and calm to even the busiest of days.
Whether he’s chasing balls, snuggling on the couch, snoozing in the sun, or proudly showing off his favourite toy, Tucker is always spreading joy. He also plays a special role at markets, joining Melanie to help ease her anxiety and bring a sense of calm to the hustle and bustle. Wherever Tucker goes, love follows—and Ambilite Candle Co. simply wouldn’t be the same without him.
How It All Started
Ambilite Candle Co. began as a personal escape—Melanie, diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, found peace and clarity through the art of candle making. What started as a therapeutic hobby soon sparked a bigger vision: to create calming, sensory-friendly candles that bring comfort, joy, and connection to others.
Now joined by her husband Josh and their emotional support dog Tucker, Melanie pours love, creativity, and purpose into every product. Ambilite is more than a candle brand—it’s a story of resilience, passion, and lighting the way for a more inclusive world.
